The Herb Eisele Blue-Gold Room is a beautiful room with a view of the Tony DeCarlo Varsity Center. A space for meetings, meals, and events, the space is a gorgeous place for Blue Streaks to enjoy.
The room was originally dedicated on September 26, 1987. In 2020, the room was renovated, reaching completion in August 2020.
The Blue-Gold Room features 6-seat and 10-seat meeting tables and 3 tables with 3 seats apiece. In the middle of the room is a comfy blue booth. The room enjoys a perfect view onto the Tony DeCarlo Varsity Center to watch basketball, wrestling, or volleyball games.
The room bears the name of the legendary Herb Eisele. One of the most renowned figures in JCU Athletics history, Eisele served as head football coach from 1948-56 and athletic director from 1948-70. Eisele put JCU Football on the map in 1950, leading the Blue Streaks to a 21-16 win over Syracuse, one of the best victories in program history. Until 1995, Eisele was the winningest coach in JCU Football history, posting a 61.4 winning percentage with a career record of 60-37-4. As an athletic director, Eisele represented JCU sports to the nation for nearly a quarter of a century, serving as a friend and advocate of the student-athlete. He was inducted into the JCU Athletic Hall of Fame in 1969.
This room, which recognizes Eisele's distinguished service to the University and its athletes, was made possible by the gifts of hundreds of alumni and friends, led by the generosity of fund chairman Anthony Culicchia, and by the Blue-Gold Club. The room was dedicated on September 26, 1987.
